Hi there and welcome to Uneta Boutique!

Wondering how we got our unique name? Here's a little back story on how Valerie picked it out!

Valerie's paternal grandparents, Alfred & Teresa (Kohl) Cochnar, formed a Czech polka band in 1938 named U-neta Orchestra.

For approximately 20 years membership reached 55, not including substitutes. Members were mostly made up of high school and college students. During World War II, girls dominated in membership with Alfred continually being there. Know as the "States Most-Traveled Czech Dance Orchestra", they traveled all over Nebraska and surrounding states.

My name is Valerie Cochnar and I'm the Owner!

I'm from Dorchester, NE and currently reside in Crete, NE. I have extensive experience in Graphic Design. I love spending time with my family & friends. I have grown up with an extremely artsy background. Many of my family members teach and have taught Art and also do it professionally.

When I was in high school, I was first introduced to graphic design when I was in Journalism, which was making the Yearbook.

In college, I didn't explore graphic design as much but still graduated with my degree in Art from Doane University. I really enjoyed ceramics during my time there.

After graduating, I worked as the graphic designer among other titles for over 6 years at Heath Sports in Crete, NE. Then I worked as the graphic designer at Sports Express in Seward, NE. In addition to these two jobs, I worked at Isis Theatre, Red Dog Tavern, & MCL Hand Sanitizer all in Crete, NE. During covid, I worked in Lincoln at UNL. I've also done freelance graphic design since graduating college.

After COVID hit and I was struggling in the workforce, I decided to finally open my own boutique. I had been wanting to do it for over 5 years and finally made the decision to dip my toes in the water with my online & pop-up boutique.

Fun Facts about Valerie: 🥋 I have been involved in Taekwondo for over 20 years. 🔔 I once was locked in the bell tower at Doane University. 💅🏻 I never paint my pinky toenails since they're so small. 💚 Green is my favorite color.  I was in a sorority at Doane University, Omega Psi Theta. 🎃 Halloween is my favorite holiday!
